"Growing up in San Diego during the early 90’s, Matthew discovered his connection to photography early on. While many of his close friends and contemporaries were becoming more and more influenced by and dedicated to the action sports/street culture movement, Matthew was becoming obsessed with how to capture it. Having a strong natural instinct for composition and timing--along with a knack for wisecrackery--Matthew quickly became accepted by the culture and, not long after, received publication from venerable action sports magazines Thrasher and Transworld. It was during his time as an action sports photographer that Matthew mastered the art of guerilla photography--lighting with a small footprint--a principle he still relies on today, using only the amount of artificial light needed to enhance the natural light.   

Following his early years in the action sports industry, Matthew branched out into Fashion, Product, and Corporate Photography. He has also led teams and provided instruction for destination photography expeditions, most recently landing him and his group in Iceland. 

Aside from Matthew’s experience and love for all types of photography, he has also established an impressive video portfolio, working on independent features, commercials, and with top-rated social media personalities. 

I think Matthew can do--or has done--everything imaginable from behind a camera. I’m still waiting to see what he can do in front of it…"
